Charlie: David from Tomball. Tom, he says, “A friend of mine had bad smells in the wall, it turned out to be a dead animal.”
Tammy
Tom: It happens.
Charlie: Yep. So he covered his weep holes with steel wool and in a few places with fiberglass screen, they’re very tight. He wants to know is this Okay or can you fill them with so much wool or fiberglass screen before you have a problem?
Tom: I don’t understand why … do the weep holes- usually the animals get in the wall from the attic.
Charlie: Yeah.
Tom: They don’t come in from the bottom there, so it’s not beneficial for what he’s trying to do. And yes, you can put too much in there, is it going to be so harmful your house will just fall apart? No. But you’re just going to have big rusts stains coming out where that steel wool is after a while. It’s just going to be ugly.
Charlie: So you would recommend get rid of it, huh?
Tom: Oh yeah, leave your weep holes alone. Those animals that fall in the wall cavities-
Charlie: They come in from the roof.
Tom: They come in from the roof then they fall down in there and they can’t get out and they die. If they came in from the bottom they’d find their way right back out.
