My 13 year old airconditoning system stopped cooling because of my evaporator coil. Should I only replace the coil or should I also replace the outside condensor unit? My currrent system uses freon. My condensor unit still works but if I replace it in a few years will I need to replace the coil again?

Tom: I’d replace the coil only. There’s a lot of people out there saying, “Well, then you’ll have to some day buy a whole new system.” That’s just not true. That coil will last a long time. Coils are meant to work with R410A or R22 and all you have to do is clean them out with nitrogen and you can switch refrigerants on them too, so not an issue, and don’t be caught up in that.
