Can my rotting wood double hung window be repaired?

Charlie:
… got questions here from Fred. He’s over at Afton Oaks. He says, Tom, “I have a wood double hung window on the north side of my house that has some rot at the bottom. Can it be repaired, and if so, who do I call for that?”

Podcast: Play in new window

Tom:
Anything can be repaired. If it’s the windowsill, it can be replaced.

Charlie:
It’s just how much money do you have?

Tom:
Yeah, but if it’s the windowsill, it’ll be easier. If it’s the bottom rail of the panel of the window, that gets a lot more involved. The only people I know that would look at something like that and redo the whole window, and paint it, and caulk it, and do all that, would be Rudy’s Quality Painting. See if it’s possible. Sometimes, window replacement is easier.

Charlie:
It may be.

Tom:
No, I’m serious. Then, call Gulf Coast Windows and go for that.
