Charlie:
Larry writes to us from Bel-Air. Thank you, Larry for writing to us. He says, “I know you have water purification system, Tommy.” Right?
Tom:
I do.
Charlie:
A water softener too.
Tom:
I do.
Charlie:
He doubled down on that. “Could you tell me the type you have, and is it for the whole house?” He’s heard of structured water systems. He has a GE refrigerator, and he wants to make sure that that’s on a system, and so on.
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
For drinking, for your kitchen, for drinking, ice cubes, making coffee, cooking, you get a reverse osmosis. I have the Kinetico, which is called the K5 Drinking Water Station. It is absolutely outstanding. Now, that is the filter. As far as your water softener goes, that’s not a filter. That softens the water so your pipes, your equipment, your body, everything gets cleaner. It’s less aggressive as far as having all that hard water deposits on your glass shower doors, things of this nature. That really is important here in the Texas area, because our water is so hard.
And, there’s a third filter that I don’t have because I don’t need it, but many people do. It’s a whole house sediment filter. Now, that doesn’t filter all the pesticides and stuff out. It takes the sand and things out, because lately we’re finding a lot more sand and debris, particulates, big stuff in the water. That is bad because that destroys your water softener and your water filter, so you got to take the sediment out. I’ve had homes in other parts of the country where we have had sediment filters, but that’s an option that you might or you might not need.
Charlie:
At the risk of piling on, I’ll tell you thing about Aquatex is they’re not selling boxes off the shelf. They really understand the solution and what has to happen at your house.
Tom:
Yeah. You know what? What I should mention, they use the Kinetico line of products.
Charlie:
They do?
Tom:
Their water softener uses no electricity. It measures the water you use through gears which means you use a lot less salt, or maybe more if you use a lot more water. It’s not set on a timer to where it just regenerates for any old reason, and that is a really sweet deal. I have it. I like it. I’ve been very impressed with it.
Charlie:
Now, they do have systems that run with timers if you’re hell bent for that.
Tom:
Yeah, of course.
Charlie:
The Kinetico ones .
Tom:
The Kineticos, it’s just wonderful. It’s engineered very well.
