Our air conditioner literally runs 24 hours a day unless we put the thermostat on 78 or 79. It has never cycled like we think it should. This has happened with multiple outside units. We have added extra insulation and an additional return. What would you recommend?

Tom: It’s too small. Or they’re too small. It’s just more than one. They have several.
Charlie: Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Tom: They’re just too small and I can tell you in my house … People say, “Oh it can’t happen,” but in my house I keep my thermostat during the day at 72. I like it cold. I’m outside in those welding shops and stuff. When I go home I’m going to be comfortable.
Charlie: Yep. In my office at home when I’m working, I dial it down to 70 and turn on the ceiling fans.
Tom: Well my ceiling fans are on today of course.
Charlie: Of course.
Tom: That’s a given.
Charlie: I’m with you.
Tom: It cycles fine. A lot of air conditioning contractors say, “Well we don’t design for that.” Well we need to design for that because we deserve to be comfortable in August as well as February.
Charlie: Mm-hmm (affirmative).
Tom: It’s just too small. She needs bigger units.
