Charlie:
Raymond in Richmond. He does have a two story, 1400 square foot house. It’s 1400 square feet on the bottom. He says it’s about his return air location. The entire bottom of the floor, he has one return air in the center of the house with one opening on one side. It’s a three foot column that goes up to his system. It’s worked well for 48 years, but now he has some Trifectionization to his house’s been going on. Some remodeling by Trifection. His question is, should I add a couple more returns in here for the other rooms, since you say there’s never enough return airs?

Tom:
The answer is you can’t have too much. If he really wanted to do a scientific thing, call Rick from Absolute Comfort Air. Let him do a static pressure test on it. He can tell him exactly what he needs to do. It sounds a little small to me. The more the better. I’ve got seven in my home, probably three times as much opening, maybe four, than he has. I’ve got two units, also. That’s neither here nor there. The bottom line is this. Not a bad idea, maybe if he has someone do a little static test on it. It’s just a static pressure test.

Get Rick out there. He can do it for you.
Tom:
Yeah, he’s great at doing that. In fact, he told me, out of all the questions or all the calls he gets from the show at Absolute Comfort Air, it’s more about duct work design than it is about fixing air conditioning units.
