My thermostat keeps blinking “Low Battery”, even though I’ve replace the battery. What can it be?

Charlie:
Wally from Champion Forest, these are last couple questions we got from the site this week I’m going to share.

Tom:
This is a neighbor.

Charlie:
He is. He says he’s got this Magic Stat Honeywell programmable thermostat-

Tom:
Thermostat, yes.

Charlie:
Which keeps giving him a low battery message, even when changing the battery within a few days. He’s wondering is it possible the power has come loose on the back of the thing.

Tom:
Probably not. When they start to go bad sometimes you’ll get displays that won’t go down. I think the display’s- I don’t know how old it is, but he might think about getting a new thermostat, because I’ve had that happen to some where the battery’s not low but the low battery will not reset itself.

Charlie:
Mm-hmm (affirmative).

Tom:
It probably is going to work fine, but if he finds it not working right the he probably would like to get a new one.
