1st. Would like your opinion about Karndean flooring? We’re looking at different types and ran across Karndean at the home show at Reliant on Sunday. Appears to be very resilient flooring with the real wood look. Many different designs to choose from.
2nd. Spray type radiant barrier, any good?
3rd. Our home 3200 sq ft. Just had a new 5 ton A/C unit installed, thermostat is next to a fireplace, with metal flue. The humidity level runs from 55-75. Heard a max level of 60% is needed to prevent mold.

Tom: There are so many different wood lookalikes, engineered woods, plastic laminates that you really need to talk to a person that knows all about it. Even when I need to find out about this stuff, I talk to Jason over at Texas Floors because there’s 50 to a hundred types of floors you can buy now. Everybody has a different level of flooring. Really do your research. Just because you see one doesn’t mean there’s not ten others out there that can be better or just as good, maybe less money. Don’t limit yourself to just one kind of flooring until you see them all.
Charlie: Jimmy, second questions, spray type or the imperial? Any good?
Tom: Sure, if it’s the right one.

Tom: The one that Chris at the insulation guru uses.

Tom: Yes, that’s true. 75 is way too high. You mustn’t just open up your windows and get a sweat box going.

Tom: That’s not big enough.
Charlie: I was just thinking the same thing.
Tom: The whole system is not designed right unless he has a second it in his house. That could be it but you’re got to be running around 50 to 60% all the time, if you’re going to run your air conditioner and have your windows closed and your doors closed.
Charlie: Would a dehumidifier solve that problem for them?
Tom: I think a system designed properly would be better. Dehumidifiers are just to try to fix a system that’s not working right and you don’t need to really go through another piece of mechanical equipment.
Charlie: It’s band aid on the disease of poor design.
