I have two gas 40 gallon hot water heaters in my attic. They are 15 years old and starting to gargle. What do you look for in new hot water heaters? What’s this I hear about the dimensions are changing soon?
Thanks,
Kirk
Tom: What’s happening is it’s a lot of hard water deposits built up and it starts to bubble and make noise. Is it dangerous? No. Is it annoying? Yes. Is it 15 years a time to maybe think about it’s coming soon? Absolutely, it is. It’s up to you. That could all be avoided with water softeners. I’m always harping on water softeners. It doesn’t let that buildup happen in water heaters. Then you can go 20-25 years easily, but in this case it’s probably coming close to the end.
