Charlie:
Daniel in Sheldon. Is it okay to go over shingles with a roll on roofing material for a temporary fix? They sell a roll of asphalt shingle at Home Depot, and I thought it might work.
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
Well the key word there is temporary.
Charlie:
What is temporary?
Tom:
I don’t know. You tell me. If you put it on, let me know when it starts leaking.
Charlie:
Tick-tock, huh?
Tom:
I don’t know. Can you do something temporary … You can have a blue tarp in temporary. The FEMA tarps.
Charlie:
Right.
Tom:
If it’s a few months you need to get by, I’m sure it’ll work. I wouldn’t look at long term, and I wouldn’t spend extra money unless you get it free and you steal it out the back door or something.
Charlie:
We’re not advocating that.
Tom:
No, we’re not advocating that.
Charlie:
No, no, no, no. Don’t do that.
Tom:
Don’t drink the paint.
Charlie:
Seriously, I mean, if it’s temporary, you might as well tarp it, and then fix it when you can.
Tom:
Well that’s what I mean. I just wouldn’t put every dollar into the new product. Charlie, sometimes people can’t. Whatever works, but it will work temporary, yes.
