Why is my new Hardie siding looking wavy in spots?

Charlie:
Mike in Sealy says, “I’m having a new house built and I’m using Hardie Siding on some of it. They started to install the Hardie this weekend and it’s wavy in spots. Is this normal?”

Tom:
It is going to mirror anything that it is put on, so if the wall is wavy and it doesn’t have a nice firm sheathing package, then yes, it could be very normal. They call it oil canning because it just follows the way the studs are put in. Some homes are not framed real straight.
