Rudy Escalante:

Most of us painters do not tape.

Hi, I’m Rudy with Rudy’s Quality Painting, and I want to teach you how to tape a trim for a nice sharp edge line on your paint job. Here’s how we’re going to tape this trim so we can get a straight line. Most customers don’t have the skill to make a straight line with the brush, but here is what I recommend is putting a straight line. Follow your trim edge and the tape will give you … Make sure you press down real good on this, on the edges.

And then we got this brush here. Use a high-end brush here. You know brushes run $20, $30, but see how stiff it is? You don’t want to get a cheap brush that’s plasticky. This is nylon and it’s a professional brush, so when you brush, you come in here. Most of us painters do not tape, but for your customers that don’t have the skill or the practice, you want to tape. So, I recommend taping for … don’t have the skills, and use a good brush.
