I have a newish air conditioner, yet I still have high humidity. What could be the cause?

Charlie:
Angela down here in Pearland has sent us a note. She says she has high humidity and mold in her home. Back in 2011-12, they had new windows, radiant barrier and a new air conditioner installed. Since then, they have high humidity in the 60s and 70% in their house. They’ve had a company that installed the air conditioner out several times to help, but the humidity is higher in the house than the outside. How can it be, what do you think is causing it?

Podcast: Play in new window

Tom:
I think it’s the air conditioner, but I don’t know why. This is since 2012. We’re going to be 2017 here soon, so this has been going on a long time.

Charlie:
I think she said they had the new windows and radiant barrier …

Tom:
2012 right?

Charlie:
Right.

Tom:
They’ve had a problem. You don’t let these problems go more than a few months until you get them fixed. The people that can’t fix it, who put the system in … It’s time you called somebody else.

Charlie:
I’m thinking.

Tom:
It’s the bottom line. I had a call yesterday from a guy who said, “I’ve had this leak for 5 years and I keep calling the same people out.” I think well …

Charlie:
Well, that’s very nice of you. They have kids. They’ve got to put them through college.

Tom:
The 3 Stooges can only do so much, so it’s time to call somebody else.

Charlie:
That’s the definition of insanity right there.

Tom:
Yeah.
