I live on Clear Lake and want to remove (existing) and rebuild (larger) multi-level deck on my townhome. I can manage the HOA approval process and pulling the permit. I need a recomendation for a reliable company to give me a quote on the work. Had 1 guy out from a local company and was not impressed with his knowledge base. The lower deck will be 11×30 and the upper deck will be 11×18. I don’t want anyone hurt in the process and I want it done right so it’s safe and long lasting. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tom: Wonderful, beautiful, long lasting is going to be Trex Material. It is absolutely gorgeous. You have so much control and you have so many design opportunities where let’s go definitely look at that. Secondly, go to our website. Homestarradio.com. And go to the Trex site, look at the material and hire someone from the site that they recommend that will do the job right in your area of this huge place we call Houston.
Charlie: There’s a couple listed there. You know what else I’m thinking about, he wants to be careful nobody gets hurt on this deck. If you want to look at that trimming that they make Trex make.
Tom: They make so many things. It’s a double deck too, right Charlie?
Charlie: Right.
Tom: They also make the rain guard from the upper deck so the lower deck space is dry so you can use the lower deck too.
Charlie: That’s a really good one.
Tom: That’s why you got to go. It’s just an incredible system.
Charlie: The thing about their steel framing that they have now for the decks is you can do a longer span too than you can with the wood.
Tom: Of course in clear lake, hurricane requirements.
Charlie: There you go. This thing …
Tom: We’re just moving on with this one. We’re just [inaudible 01:03] here.
Charlie: Here’s what you’re going to do. Are we clear on this? We’re moving on.
Tom: That was actually pretty easy.
