Charlie:
Robert from Spring writes to us, Tom, he says, “Have you ever seen a humidistat that will run the AC to sub-cool then turn on the furnace for just a couple minutes to bring the house back to temperature, to the set point, to help with humidity control?”
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
I have not. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but personally, I have not heard of anything that is going to run in that kind of configuration.
Charlie:
Air conditioner, the furnace, and all that …
Tom:
Yeah, off the humidity, because that’s what the humidistat does. No, I don’t, so I think it’s time to Google. I really don’t.
Charlie:
Now, my nest does something like this, where it doesn’t, it runs the fan a little longer or something …
Tom:
That’s different. But when he’s talking about dehumidifying, that means it’s going to kick the air conditioner on, and then it’s gonna get the humidity controlled, and then the heater kicks in, but most heaters will dry the house out so fast that the humidity will be gone anyway, because of the hot … either the electric strip heats, or the furnace.
Charlie:
It kicks in later.
