Whether you’re washing dishes or washing yourself, you use a ton of water. An average person uses anywhere from 80-100 gallons of water a day. More than 60% of Texas counties have water on the highest end of the hardness scale. This hard water can lead to limescale stains on your faucets and dishes, and it can even cause your dishwasher or water heater to fail. See how a water softener will save your faucets and appliances.
Well, the hard water can actually cause issues with your water heater. Also, it malfunctions the dishwasher and leaves spots all over your fixtures. Well, hard water is calcium, lime, manganese. A water softener removes the hardness through ionic exchange.
The water softener takes the water in and runs it through an ion exchange resin, regenerates it with either sodium or potassium chloride. Most cases we use sodium chloride, which is salt. And then we start by testing the water.
After testing your water’s hardness, AquaTex technicians get right to work installing a custom water softener.
Of course we set the water softener up to make sure that we get the softener set up properly. And then we shut the water off, tie in our piping to the water softener to the house water supply, and then we turn the water on. We start to soften her up by purging all the air out of the tanks. We turn the system on to the house, and soft water starts to flow.
General installs can take anywhere from an hour to four and a half, five hours, just depending on the job. Once I get the softener installed, I do get the customer out there and do walk them through how the bypass assembly works. In service, you want to put it in the green mode, so that the water softener is doing its job. In the red mode, it shuts the inlet off to the softener. And in the yellow, it puts the softener in bypass.
The bypass is there in case the water softener is malfunctioning for some reason. You can bypass the softener until a service technician is able to get to repair the softener. You’ll still have water to your home.
