Charlie: Peyton in Angleton has our next question, Tom. He says, “What is the best way to remove vinyl sheet flooring glued to a second-floor plywood deck?”
Tom: First off, I don’t know why he’d want to remove it but, the only thing he can do is scrap it off. A floor scraper and you can rent a machine, too, but it will tear that plywood to pieces. So, be prepared to do a lot of prep work if you’re putting a new floor down. If you’re putting a new floor down, you can just either cover that vinyl up with a three-eighths plywood, depending on the floor you’re using or a backer board if you’re going to use tile. I wouldn’t pull it up at all. I would just go on top of it and just prep it, properly, with whatever floor I’m putting down.
