Charlie:
Jame in Conroe.. & This one could throw you for a loop, Tom. He has a family of birds living in his attic. He wants to know, “Do you have any recommendations on how to rid them?”
Tom:
Actually, you’re going to kill them. Get rid of them, but here the question you can’t answer. I don’t think Charlie is. Some birds are protected. Some birds you’re not allowed to kill. Let’s give you a few examples. The one you really want to kill in the morning while it’s pecking at your tree is a woodpecker. That is a protected species. What’s the other ones you want to kill? The chimney sweeps. They get into your chimneys, and nest and cause all kinds of problems. You’re not allowed to kill them.
Charlie:
No, you’re not. That’s funny. ….but if you call the right people…..
Tom:
I don’t know if this is a duck or what.
Charlie:
If you call the right people, they kind of disappear.
Tom:
That’s true. Vinnie and his friends.
Charlie:
Vinnie Boo, Bots..
Tom:
We get rid of the birds. I don’t know what the species is, but a professional, you’ll have to … A couple things. It’s springtime. Wait it out until the leave, and they have their babies, then you seal up however they got in there. That’s the most common way to do chimneys or anything like that. If you have woodpeckers where they’re pecking on your house, it’s because you have bugs up in your wood, so you get rid of the food for them.
Charlie:
There’s nothing worse than bugs in your wood.
Tom:
I know. Then, of course, it could be termites or carpenter ants. That’s what they go after. There’s something in your attic. If you don’t want to kill it, you’re going to have to wait it out.
