Charlie:
Sherry over at North west says, “I believe I have spalling on my garage concrete floor.”
Tom:
Okay. Better than falling.
Charlie:
Well it’s that pitting and all that other [crosstalk 00:00:12]. I’m talking for the people who are …
Tom:
True.
Charlie:
People who are playing the at home edition of Home Show Radio. Just so they know what we’re talking about. Anyway. It’s in her store room, her front patio, and back patio as well. Says, “It seems to get worse daily. The part that’s the worst has small gouges in the concrete, and the concrete’s flaking away in many places. Especially the garage and the store room.” She wants to know, “How is this repaired, and do we have somebody we can send over there?”
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
Don’t have anybody who’s going to come and do something like that. How do you repair it? Usually you just skim float it, but the problem is it’s going to look terrible unless you put a coating on there. Now, if we get into like maybe concepts in concrete where they can put a coating on there to keep the water from getting in, or you get Rudy’s Quality Painting to do an epoxy paint after they smooth out the surface. You do have some options, but until you put some kind of seal, or paint, or coating on there what’s going to happen is that water is going to keep getting in. This is a year we’ve got a lot of these questions Charlie. With all the rain we’ve had.
Charlie:
Sure.
Tom:
It’s just getting in and it’s making the tops … She called it spalling, some people call efflorescence. It’s a little bit of everything, but that’s what’s causing all that problem.
