Buying a new house in Washington state, and the one I’m looking at has cracks in the concrete around the base of the home. There is also a large T crack in the garage. Should I worry about foundation cracks?

Tom: Washington and Oregon have incredibly hard weather patterns like they do in The Gulf Coast. Ours is a little different. We’re hotter. They get saturated with rain all the time. You have to really go local on this. If you’re going to buy a home, no matter where you live, whether it’s Houston, Texas or Washington or Chicago, for that matter, find a really good home inspector that has the expertise to tell you if this is a problem. I suspect it could be, but I haven’t seen it so I can’t tell her exactly what it is. Home inspectors, get one before you commit to a house.
