I want to replace the roof, siding and windows. If done separately, what order would you recommend?
Tom
Tom: The roof can be done any time, so I would always tell people, “If your roof is leaking, do the roof first.” Siding will be done after the windows. It’s really nice to do it at the same time, but put the windows in and then go ahead with the siding. What’s going to happen is when you remove the siding, you can get standard windows and sit them right back in the hole, so try to coordinate that one together.
Charlie: Mm-hmm (affirmative). But if he can’t find that hammer, if that’s more than he can do …
Tom: If he can’t do it, then put the windows in first.
Charlie: Then the siding.
Tom: Then the siding, because …
Charlie: Then the roof, if it’s not leaking.
Tom: Yeah, and the roof, if it’s not leaking. It’s fine either way. The roof doesn’t affect that siding job or the window job.
