Charlie: Amal and Klein says, I have a sagging beam, which supports the second floor wall and roof. It doesn’t have a wall underneath it. It ties to other beams at either end. We were told, it most likely got wet due to a leak and it needs to be replaced. How do they do that?
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: They temporarily shore up, is what it’s called, the rest of the floor and structure around it by just taking two by fours and building these little, oh I call them fake walls, it’s just little sections of walls that hold up the different structure around it. Then they’ll remove that beam, put in a new one. I would probably beef it up. I can’t design it for you. I don’t know what it looks like. Then, go ahead and remove the shoring and just go ahead and cosmetically put it all back together.
