Tom Tynan:

Every woodworker has an orbital sander, sometimes several of them. The pros at Circle Saw showed us a model that is three sanders in one.

Brett Rose:

This is what we call Rotex. It’s going to achieve the same finish that you would be looking for from a random orbit grinder, and we have three different models. This right here is the three and a half-inch. Also have it in a five-inch and a six-inch. What’s really nice about this unit, if I’m doing cabinetry, I’m doing surface prep, I have that random orbit feature.

So I’m going to show you here is a short little demo about five, eight seconds long, in random orbit. Now, what you’re going to notice is a dust-free environment. That’s because we’re connected to the dust extractor. You’re also going to notice it turned on automatically. That’s another great feature about a professional setup.

Now, let’s say I wanted to strip this board entirely. That’s where Rotex comes in. At the flip of a switch, this unit essentially… think grinder at this point. You’re going to remove more material in half the time than you would in random orbit. So I’m going to do the same spot over here about the same length of time in that grinder Rotex mode. Now, you can see how much faster that was.

Another benefit having your dust extraction and using genuine accessories, a lot of times by the time you get to this point, your paper looks like that. Dust extraction is removing that debris, so it’s not getting so much debris stuff in your paper. This is where your cost saving comes in. You’re going to use half as much consumables and do the work twice as fast.

Another great feature on this particular model… so we already got two modes, right? Random orbit, Rotex. Let’s flip it over here. Let’s take that off. Let’s put a detail sander on there. Now I’ve got a detail sander. So I just accomplished the job of three different tools with one.

So if you’re looking to save space in real estate in your shop or in the back of your truck, three in one. We also have it available in a five and a six, which is also dual mode on the five and the six.
