Our home was built in 1996 with a three car garage that has about an 8ft overhang. There are four columns supporting this structure. They are steel posts with a dense foam cladding to form the shape. Over the years they have taken some abuse and I would like to replace them. Do you know where I can find the material and someone to install it?
Charles
Tom: Well, I’m sure the metal posts are fine.
Charlie: Yes.
Tom: You want to wrap them with something.
Charlie: The cladding is shot .
Tom: You have a foam cladding. Obviously, that’s going to take a beating. I mean, foam is soft. You can find some of those types of products at some of the mill work places like Bison, or they’re called ProBuild now. Lonestar Plywood and Door. I mean, there’s a bunch of them out there where they do a lot of decorative trim.
Charlie: Yeah. Go to the wood instead.
Tom: Or you could go to wood, or you could go to foam. The foam are okay. Now they have composite or fiberglass type products.
Charlie: Cool.
Tom: And, believe it or not, you can do it with Hardy if you don’t want round and you want square. Hardy makes a great cladding. You have a lot of opportunity. If you’re not sure now to do it or what you want to do, I would suggest, believe it or not, you call Rudy Quality Painting. Rudy does a lot of this type of work. He knows where to get his hands on different types of products and show you different things. That’s what I would look at. Whatever you want, it’s out there.
