Charlie: Mark in Pearland says he’s looking at different foundations companies. He wants to know what’s the difference between a lifetime warranty that is transferable and a lifetime service agreement.

Tom: I don’t know. I’d have to read them. I think if you wanted to find out, you could actually get a copy from the companies that offer both and read them. But I tell you this, sometimes they won’t give you the warranty until you sign the paper. That is not a good sign. You know who writes warranties, Charlie. Lawyers.
Charlie: I beg to differ with you because I’ve seen the Du-West Warranty up close and personal and I know it has no wherefores, if then’s, and but that’s because … what’s the other one they say? Not-Withstanding the forgoing. There’s none of that in there.
Tom: Actually I haven’t read it in a long time, but I remember looking back at it. It was fairly simple.
Charlie: It’s real straightforward.
Tom: So ask them.
Charlie: I would say, if I may offer.
Tom: You may offer.
Charlie: If you look at a warranty and you need an attorney to navigate it, that tells you something about the warranty. So the Du-West one is pretty darn straightforward.
