Three easy ways to help your landscaping thrive all year

Help your landscaping in all kinds of weather

The road to a sick lawn is paved with good intentions. Sometimes we over-water, or under-water. Or, we’ll over-feed it with needless fertilizers and chemicals. Getting a beautiful lawn and healthy landscaping is easy with these three tips from RCW Nurseries.

Water till it runs off

Run your sprinklers till you get run off. Your time will vary depending on factors such as soil composition, root strength, and more. By running it till you get run off, the water has a chance to work deeper and deeper into your soil. That promotes healthier roots for your grass.

Feed it naturally

To get a lawn that’s truly green and healthy, use molasses. Not the kind you have in the kitchen. Agricultural molasses is thinner. A gallon jug covers about half an acre.

Mind your mulch

Mulch can be your friend by helping keep plan roots moist in the summer and providing a blanket in the winter. But, it has no business covering the base of trees. In fact, Mary says covering more than just the soil at the base can actually harm your trees. Since shade is your friend, who would ever want to do that?
