I have a sliding glass door that needs to be replaced. I want to replace it with French doors. The problem is the space measures approx. 81.5 In. H x 108 in. L. It is surrounded by brick. I have not been able to find this size and assume it is custom. Any suggestions would be appreciated on who can do this.

Tom’s Answer:
Tom: It won’t be too custom although it is at the same time. A sliding door are either six foot or eight foot openings if they’re standard. If this one’s a little odd maybe you’ll have to have something made. But we have a sponsored door clearance center and you can go in there and you can do a combination of one door that opens, two doors that open, you can have two side lights on either side, you can have different size doors put together in the unit. They will make the unit fit the rough opening but I think right now he needs to measure that rough opening a little bit differently.
Charlie: How does he do it?
Tom: You got to remember you have a jamb there so you have an inch and a half on either side plus you have about a half inch of shim space between that and the framing when the new unit goes in. I don’t think he should do it unless he knows what he’s doing before he orders a very expensive unit no matter how you look at it. But whoever’s going to install it maybe can come out and actually order the size so it’s done right. He can start at door clearance center and look at his options, bring the opening he has in with him and then maybe a more specific opening they might be able to show him exactly what they want him to do so they can make it to the right specifications.
Charlie: Maybe take a picture or even ..
Tom: Take a picture and take the measurements with you that he has but then let them, look at the doors, and then let them kind of extrapolate and then guide him into the exact meeasurements they have to make, even if they have to have someone go out there, like if Rudy went out there he would know better.
