It typically provides resilience to the fiber to keep it standing up nice and tall. Holding here in my hands are SYNAugustine 347, one of our flagship SYNLawn products. Just to talk a little bit about what turf is. Turf is a, let’s call it a glorified outdoor carpet. You’ve got a backing, you’ve got a tufted fiber through the backing.
But something that’s a little different than turf than carpet, you’ve got a triple layer backing on this specific product versus a knitted product like you guys might see in the backing of a carpet. The fibers here are made out of polyethylene, you’ve got a face fiber, you’ve got a thatch fiber, and then you’ve got the backing down in there. But this SynAugustine product is a very soft, very durable product for SYNLawn. We moved down to the other end of the spectrum.
You’ve got a very soft product, an economical product for the everyday use, the everyday customer, the everyday application. This is something that’s going to serve the purpose, but it’s going to require a little bit more maintenance, I guess, is the easiest way to say that. Same great backing, it’s constructed the same way, same polyethylene, just a little bit different fiber shape which makes a little bit more economical. And the easiest way to explain that is your economical products typically have a flat blade grass, something like this.
If I put weight on the top, if I do that enough times, eventually we get a crease here. With your higher end products, whether it be SYNLawn or whoever, typically they’re a shaped fiber. And through the extrusion process, they fold these fibers into certain shapes. And we have here what we would call a soft C at SYNLAWN. And when you put weight on top, it typically provides resilience to the fiber to keep it standing up nice and tall so that your turf lasts for as long as you would like to with an investment such as this.
