Charlie: Kenneth in Woodlake says, the flat roof on my 2500 foot, single story townhome is leaking. I need to get it repaired, including some decking that needs to be replaced. Is there a method or process that works best, like hot asphalt versus something else on these kind of roofs?
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: No, the best method is, is called Ideal Roofing, because flat roofs are really difficult, I mean, really specialized. And today you have so many different things. Hot asphalt, just the fact that someone would ask about that, which is not used anymore-
Charlie: Remember those kettles driving down the road?
Tom: Exactly. You don’t see those anymore. It’s a whole new ballgame today. It’s probably gonna be some kind of a modified roofing material. But you gotta a really good roofer to do that. Flat roofs are an art in itself.
Charlie: He does these membrane systems that are just-
Tom: I believe they call them TPOs-
Charlie: Or something like that. I think TP ….but-
Tom: TP is toilet paper, that’s what’s in the bathroom.
Charlie: But that’s not what they’re gonna use on your roof, okay? TPO’s a whole different thing.
Tom: No, it’s not. That’s good, though.
Charlie: In fact, there is a video, and I gotta remember to tell … I’m gonna email Kenneth and tell him about the video on the website, where they put one of these in, and they use it not only on roofs, but they use it on these balconies that come out-
Tom: Exactly.
Charlie: And they treat it like a roof.
Tom: Yes.
