I’m tired of a bathtub. I want a shower!
We live in Sealy, Texas. Our house was built in 1984. We have an existing bathtub that did not have a shower. It did not have any tile, only wallpaper over drywall, on the three walls surrounding the tub. The plumbing for a shower was installed behind the drywall, but was never used. We want to tile the walls, install the showerhead, and use the shower. When we install the tile, what type of material do we use behind the tile on the walls surrounding the tub/shower? What type of vapor barrier do we use? Is there anything else we should know before we begin the project? I have heard conflicting opinions about greenboard, cement board, backerboard, etc.
