Charlie: Pat’s over in the energy corridor, he says my house is built in the ’70s. Has 29 piers underneath it and recently eight had to be shimmed. And now he has cracks inside and out, mostly minor, to repair. Should he have expansion joints cut in?
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: No. I think it was stressed. After you get the piers put in or readjusted in this case.
Charlie: Shimmed, yeah.
Tom: Then you will wait about 90 days, because there’s going to be still a little settlement. And then you come in for the Sheetrock, get Rudy to come in and take care of that. If you need a little brick restoration company to go out there and repoint some stuff.
It’s going be pretty common when a house shifts like that. It’s just the nature of the beast.
Charlie: It wasn’t made to be moved.
Tom: Yeah, that’s true.
