Charlie: Gary sent us one from Katie. He says, “My neighbor’s tree has lifted my driveway, causing the foundation to wash away underneath it. I’ve now got a sunken section in my driveway and I’m looking for someone who can come take a look at it.”
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: Well, as far as fixing a driveway, the people to come take a look at it would be Tom at Family Landscapes.
Charlie: Okay.
Tom: They redo driveways all the time. If the roots are getting under there, and they will, they’re going to have to be cut out.
Charlie: Yeah.
Tom: Hopefully they can … If you have someone like Tom do it …
Charlie: Right.
Tom: They won’t destroy the tree so your neighbor, hopefully, will be happy and yet at the same time you’ll be able to pour new concrete. But if it’s moved and cracked and sunk, you’re gonna have to re pour it. You’re not gonna be able to save that concrete so be prepared to at least cut a section out, trim the tree roots properly, and then put your new section in.
Charlie: And there’s no fixing that section, you’re going to have to tear it out, right?
Tom: If it’s cracked and stuff I don’t see how. There are some systems out there that will lift low spots and what not with the foams but usually when it comes to tree roots, it’s all washed out underneath there.
Charlie: Yeah.
Tom: This sounds like a bigger job than just a little quick lift.
