Charlie: “Jeff in El Lago, our last question this morning. What’s your take … Jeff, I’m thinking you’re new because you ask, “What’s your take on spray foam insulation? If inverted in a vented attic correctly, will it really grow mold?
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: “It’s not that the foam grows mold, it’s the house grows mold, because it doesn’t breathe from the foam. The foam isn’t the issue as far as being the food source, all the wood and everything in the home becomes the food source for mold. Mold grows on cellulose, it eats it, and so you get the moisture, you get the darkness, you get the food source, and you’re going to grow mold. Yeah. It has to be dry and that’s why we ventilate attics.
