Charlie:
Michael in Spring sent one in. He says, “Tom, I’ve heard you talk about shower filters to remove the chlorine and chloramines and all that stuff. Can you point me in the right direction what to look for in buying one of these?”
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
They’re all pretty much the same. They’re just concentrated charcoal and they remove the chlorines more than the chloramines because that’s an ammonia. That’s a little tougher, but it does remove some. It does remove all the chlorine, and the chlorine that gases up that absorbs into your skin is what you’re trying to remove.
Charlie:
You find these at …
Tom:
Lowe’s, Home Depot.
Charlie:
The Depot and stuff.
Tom:
You can buy them in the shower head itself or you can buy them that screw on and then your regular shower head screws onto it.
Charlie:
In case you don’t want to change out all your plumbing.
Tom:
No, it just screws onto the neck.
Charlie:
Good enough.
