Recommended sheathing for exterior walls

In follow up to my previous question on a materials product list for a custom home build, what is the recommended sheathing for the exterior walls? You used to recommend saturated black asphalt with 1/2 inch plywood at the corners with Tyveck wrap. Is this still recommended?

Tom: It’s a fine idea, but what people are going to now to make it … because prices aren’t that bad with it, and we’re worried so much about wind storm regulations and high winds, and things of that nature, just solvent half inch plywood would be the ultimate. At the end of my career, that’s all we were doing, because that’s what people really wanted, was an ultimate well-built home.
