Charlie: Michael in Spring, he says, “I have a bunch of moths in my grass.”
Tom: Uh oh.
Charlie: Yeah. “I’m replacing mulch in the flower bed. The home builder put a lot of sand underneath, should we remove that, lay soil on top, and then add mulch. Is that gonna help with it or what?”
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom: No, no. It has nothing to do with anything the builder did. The sand is fine. The sod being new is going to be real delicate. Those are sod webworms. Of course, if you wanna go to our website, we have a video all about ’em, but the moths are a bad sign. They’re laying eggs. The live larvae is going to grow and start eating all the grass. One of the things I talked with Tom over at Family Landscapes, he says it’s really hard on new sod as opposed to grass that has been established.
Charlie: Mature grass.
Tom: Hopefully you need to get on it now and there are professionals who can chemically treat everything. You can see the video, that might help you. RCW Nurseries can help you. You gotta get on it and don’t try … Don’t ignore it.
Charlie: The video Tom’s talking about, is cleverly concealed on the home page-
Tom: Yes.
Charlie: -of HomeShowRadio.com. Maybe you’ll find it there.
