Is it alright to place ceramic tile over my parquet floor?

Charlie:
Dan, he’s up in Northwest and he’s got an old parquet floor. He wants to know how best to take this thing up or can he lay ceramic tile right over it.

Tom:
It depends what it’s on. If it’s on concrete slab, which I’m going to assume because that’d probably be 90% or more that people right here in the Houston area, you’ve got to take it up. You do not want that concrete and that parquet between tile and concrete.

Charlie:
I was going to say, be wicking up lots of water, right?

Tom:
Yeah, it’s just not a good combination. Believe it or not, as much as you don’t want to take it up, or Dan doesn’t …  I’m not taking it up, that’s for sure.  It’s not as hard as taking some other things up.

Charlie:
Tom’s cell phone number 713, no.
