I am interested in the Ace Duraflo epoxy coating inside existing galvanized water piping for a residence. I had them out for a quote, but it ended up costing significantly more than the plumber is charging. Why?
Dennis
Tom: My question is are the plumbers paying for all the damage to be repaired, and matched just like it was before they got there. When I say that I mean paint colors, textures, cabinets, any kind of damage that’s done. Any of the holes repaired, any of that. If they’re going to do it all and I don’t think they are, and I think that’s the part that people skip. Then you’re going to have new pipes with a lot of damage that needs to be repaired. Unless, I guess you’re a do it yourself-er, and you want to repaint your house or do it all yourself it’s fine.
Charlie: There’s a good time.
Tom: It’s a good time, but besides that you’ve got to put those costs in, and then compare the real costs.
Charlie: When you look at the that estimate, because Tom has talked about this before. They may say that they’re going to patch the holes. That is not repair.
Tom: But they’re not going to guarantee texture, matching, and they’re certainly not going to guarantee color matching. That means usually if it’s in the ceiling you’ve got to paint the whole ceiling. If it’s in the wall you’ve got to paint at least one wall, and then the other walls don’t match. It’s very difficult.
Charlie: Right, exactly. You’re picking at a scab there when you start that stuff. You ought to go with TDT and save yourself the trouble.
