Heat Blocker

Which will work better? Insulation or radiant barrier?

We have a one-story house. Our living room area was designed with a vaulted ceiling. The R-value of the insulation in the attic space adjacent to the “vaulted” wall space is lower than what it should be to provide a more effective heat barrier between the attic space and living area. Would it be better to simply add another layer of insulation to up the R-value or is this a place to utilize a radiant barrier foil, or both? The current insulation is between vertical studs.
