Garage Heat in the House?

Will radiant barrier solve my problem?

We have a two-story, south-facing home in San Antonio. Built in 2000 with radiant barrier in the attic. 75% of son’s bedroom is above the two-car garage with metal door that faces south. Needless to say, it’s the hottest/warmest room in the house during the summer. Looking to radiant barrier the inner surface of the garage door but can’t get less than 5 gallons of barrier paint at a decent price. Would the 1/2″, 4’x8′ foil back panels I’ve seen at the big box stores be in any way effective? We installed similar panels on a garage door when we lived in CO with a noticeable effect against cold.
