Do I need more floor support to put a jacuzzi in upstairs?

What kind of flooring/support do I put under an upstairs jacuzzi tub (concrete, hardie board, or sand)?

Tom: The floor structure itself should be fine for it because it’s a dead load and it’s distributed. As far as the type of tub you get, a lot of times, we’ll set them in a mud base so they don’t flex or fracture but I can’t say that’s exactly what he needs to do because I don’t know the type of tub he’s buying. If it’s a really good, well built tub, then you don’t have to do anything. Just put it right down to the ground and then of course, if you’re going to tile up to it or whatever kind of floor you’re doing, then you would prep that floor a little bit.
Charlie: You could put a backer down.
Tom: Yeah, if it’s a tile, that kind of thing.
