Damaged Hardie Plank

We have a U-shaped, hardie plank house that’s 15yrs old. We recently put a pool in to fit the space. We have 5 ft of patio that separates the pool and the house. When the contractor was evening the concrete they scrapped some paint off of the hardie plank. I have notice some discoloration or saturation on the exposed hardy plank bc of splashing and pool water. I’m concerned with water compromising the hardie plank or water getting under the hardie plank to the structure.

We have no foundation showing the new decking buts right up to the bottom of the hardie plank.

Tom: Well, of course, she should go ahead and repair the damage, but Hardie will not rot. The Hardie is not an issue. If she’s getting water in the house or behind the Hardie, that’s because the drainage on that apron that goes up to the house, that 5 foot area might not have been done right because it’s really not a good idea to get right up to the bottom. Sometimes you have to though.
Charlie: That doesn’t seem to be the problem here as far as I …
Tom: Right. I don’t think there’s a problem at all except go ahead and cosmetically fix it.
