Charlie: Marilyn from Westfield writes to us. She says she has a pin hole leak in her copper piping and she’s had several of them during the past few years. So she probably ready to get rid of them. She’d like a solution for re-piping, but she wants to know should she just re-pipe where it’s broken or everywhere? Is re-piping the right way to go because one of the other questions she wants to know is, is there a company that does it and will fix the mess behind them because she already knows they are going to cut open the walls?

Tom: Well, a lot of the re-piping companies do fix the messes, but it’s … they’ll patch wall, but you’ve got to do all the painting. You’ve got to get someone like Rooney in. Now, pinhole leaks in copper is not as common as you would find in some of the galvanized pipe in the 80’s, but the Ace Duraflow system, that re-lining system works great with copper. From Texas Drain Technologies, yeah. In fact, Vic was out at the home show last weekend and his booth was packed. She is not alone with this kind of problem by any means. A lot of people are having it. If it was my druthers, I’d call Texas Drain Technologies and have them come out, re-line your copper. You’re not going to have any more problems. It’s not a matter of fixing and patching little places. It’s just what you have to do to get the whole thing done once and for all and not worry about it, but there will be no sheet rock broken open to take care of your house. It’ll all be done internally through the pipes.
Charlie: I was visiting with Gary over there at TDT this week. And, you know, they don’t just do the restoration. They also do re-piping, so-
Tom: If that’s the only option-
Charlie: So if that’s the way … if that’s what it needs-
Tom: Absolutely.
Charlie: And a lot of times, you’ll call somebody who does re-piping because that’s what they do and when you’re a hammer, all the world’s a nail. And if that’s all they know how to do that’s going to be their solution. So giving Gary a call at TDT makes sense because he can do either and he’ll tell you, “Yeah, you’re too far gone for-”
Tom: Yeah, I don’t think in this case they’re too far gone. I think they’re going to be fine with the copper.
Charlie: It’ll save them a bundle too.
Tom: There’s some metal issues going on with that water and that copper pipe.
