Tom, my wife and I recently purchased a home in NW Houston. It has been determined by several plumbing companies that there a two-20″ runs of sewer pipe under the slab that have significant bellies in them (100% full). What is the approved solution to this problem and can you recommend a couple of companies that enact this repair?
Thanks,
Jeff
Tom: Either re-route them or go in and replace them and fix them. It depends what kind of accessibility you have. If you have to get under the house and do tunneling and go far, I would tell you to probably call Du-West Foundation Repairs.
The foundation takes a beating on that too. You want to make sure it’s supported when it’s all said and done. If they can re-route them it would be even easier.
Charlie: What about TDT? Couldn’t they possibly fix that?
Tom: They can go under there and fix it, just all I’m saying is …
Charlie: TDT is going to do it form the inside.
Tom: Oh, the sleeve, no it’s a belly. The sleeves, Charlie, for TDT, that’s if you have a broken line, you have a hole in it.
Charlie: Oh, okay.
Tom: When it gets to belly, they can’t straighten it out. I don’t think so. I mean you can call, but that’s more for broken lines and not ones with bellies in them. Bellies become a real issue because you can’t take the belly out of them.
Sometimes, if it’s a plastic pipe, it won’t even come out. It will get formed like that. It has a memory that won’t go back to its original shape.
