Why am I having trouble finding bath mats for my re-glazed bathtub?

Charlie:
Robert in the Galleria just had his tub re-glazed. He says he’s having trouble finding bath mats that will work on that re-glazed surface. Why is that?

Podcast: Play in new window

Tom:
Actually, when you get your tubs re-glazed or refinished, they should give you a do and don’t list about what to do because there are certain cleaning products you cannot use that you would use on a regular tub. Of course, the bath mats, if you don’t get the one proper that’s for that one,

Charlie:
Oh,  boy… That’ll be fun!

Tom:
… you take it off, all those little suction cups just pull the glaze right off. You have all those little …

Charlie:
I was thinking it wouldn’t stick at all and you go for a ride.

Tom:
No.

Charlie:
It’ll destroy the finish?

Tom:
It’ll take the finish off. I’m not sure where to get one. It’s not like I buy one every day but I think it’s time to Google anywhere from Wal-Mart to Bed Bath and Beyond and start looking for one that can be applied to that.

Charlie:
I like the idea of calling the company that did it.

Tom:
Yeah. See if they know where to get some. They should have given them a list.

Charlie:
They should.

Tom:
I would recommend anybody, there’s 10 things you should not do to a new tub that’s been refinished.
