I have 2 questions about rewiring.
I’m looking at purchasing a home in Nassau Bay that’s had the inspection on the property and everything seems to check out ok except for the wiring. Every inspector I have talked to has basically told me to back out of the house because of this issue. Is aluminum wiring really that big of a hazard? Is it worth trying to completely re-wire the whole house? By the way the attic has PLENTY of access.
I know re-wiring will probably make us tear out the sheetrock on the perimeter walls, however it would be nice to replace the windows and insulation in them at the same time. Would re-insulating the perimeter walls even make a noticeable difference in the efficiency? The lower 8 feet of walls is covered by brick.
