Tom, Is there a recommended size for a fresh air intake?

Charlie: Michael in Dickinson, “I’d like to add a fresh air intake to my HVAC system. Is there a recommended size, Tom, per ton for this intake?”
Tom: No, there’s not. It’s small, it’s simple. It doesn’t matter what size unit you have for a residential unit. A four inch Lamiflex, which is a dryer duct, the silver one is fine. You just put that on there. It’ll pull what it needs to pull. It’s not a size issue, like a distribution duct or a supply duct.
Charlie: It’ll almost balance itself, in a sense?
Tom: It does. It just balances whatever is lost.
Charlie: Okay.
