I have a 5000 sq foot house built in 2005. It has a very thick slab foundation.
Our first floor has large rectangular 2×4 foot (approximately) travertine marble tiles. Every year we notice more cracks in the tiles. No gaping ones, just long ones only 1-2 millimeter wide spanning multipe tiles. There are a few cracks in the door frames and crown molding but otherwise everything else looks fine. We asked our builder and was told it was just normal settling of the house a few years ago but how do they really know? We are scared to ask a foundation company to come because I am worried that they will say we need repair even if we truly don’t. Is there any testing that can be done?
