I have black PVC in my attic where the condensate drain goes into the plumbing of the house. The air conditioning technician told me to make an elbow that would be a permanent fit or glue it in. My question is: if you seal it off, how do you get in there to clean mold or algae that might build up in the elbow?

Tom: The best thing to do, and I’m sure the A/C contractor will probably lead him on and was probably going to do this anyway, is right outside of the evaporator coil, you put a T. That T has a little pipe that goes up, that has a cap on top that you just take off and you pour the bleach down in there when you want to clean it. Right past the T, that little P-Trap goes in, and then the drain line drains positively away. That’s what you do, you just add that T to it. I think most A/C contractors would probably do that, and this probably wasn’t communicated to one another.
