Charlie:
Robert in Sugarland says, “I’m 55.” This one is kind of not home improvement, but you can help improve his home, Tom. He’s 55. He spent 30 years as a computer programmer and was laid off a few years ago. He’s been trimming horses, building furniture, and building fences. He saw your electrical tech program and says, “Geez, I wonder if that could be for me.”
Podcast: Play in new window
Tom:
Sure. Why not?
Charlie:
I mean, he’s 55 and he wants to start a new career.
Tom:
Yeah, I mean, I don’t know. I can’t say he’s going to get hired, not hired, whatever-
Charlie:
Right.
Tom:
… that’s fine. But as far as … If I had to do it all over again, I would be an electrician, because there’s so much you can do with it, even on your own, and there’s no end to it. You’re always out of the box. Kind of like computers and stuff. You can just get deeper and deeper and deeper into it. So I find it quite exhilarating myself, which I’m a little weird. But yeah, sure, yes.
Charlie:
Robert, if you’re listening, just think of this. You’re 10 years younger than Colonel Sanders was when he started peddling Kentucky Fried Chicken.
